Camacho Picks Winning Cigar Name

From Angel Diaz:

“Caribe Imported Cigars, Inc. would like to thank all of the people who submitted names for the Name the Camacho Cigar Contest. We had over 1,200 responses.

“Since the inception of the cigar we had a tough time conceiving an appropriate name that conveyed not only the strength of the cigar, but also the flavor.

“We started the Say “Uncle!” campaign to state that the cigar was stronger than your average full-bodied cigar. That the strength of the cigar would bring you to your knees and make you say “Uncle!” From the replies that we have received from consumers who have smoked the cigar, we feel that we have accomplished that. But the cigar is more than just strength, it has great flavor.

“After carefully reviewing the entries, many of which were very creative, we noticed that the majority of names entered were names which we had already debated.

“One entry caught our attending. The participant stated that he had purchased the cigar, loved the strength and taste and asked us not to change a thing. He also noted that on the right side of the cigar band we have name of the farm which produces the wrapper for this cigar, the Coyolar farm. (This is a farm that Julio Eiroa had wanted to grow cigar wrappers on for some time. The new Camacho cigar is the first cigar produced with the wrapper from the Coyolar farm.) He remembered the name from a posting that Christian Eiroa had placed on our websites forum. He stated that we should simply name it “Camacho Coyolar Puro.” He felt that the name was catchy and that we would not have to worry about a name that conveyed strength and/or flavor. We agreed!

“Caribe Imported Cigars, Inc. would like to congratulate Rod Mitchell of Chicago, Illinois as the winner of the Name the Camacho Cigar Contest.”

As winner of the contest, Rod Mitchell is getting a trunk filled with a year’s worth of smokes — that’s right, 365 cigars. The Camacho Coyolar Puro is slated to have a production run of two million a year. Look for it on shelves at your local tobacco shop starting in late October or early November.
