This is a very sweet deal from JR Cigars on two five-pack samplers of two very good cigars. It is only good for a week.

But for one quarter of an inch, this deal wouldn’t exist. You’ll understand that better later on. Let’s talk about the cigars.

The TTT Trinidad Corona is rated an 87 by Cigar Aficionado. They said that it was “a well-made cigar with a dark, toothy wrapper. It has a smooth, easy draw. It’s woody, spicy and smooth, with a few harsh edges.”

This cigar has a best online price at the moment of $25.00 per sampler of 5 cigars at Atlantic Cigar. The next best price is at Mike’s Cigars for $36.00 for 5 . The suggested retail price on the sampler is $40.00, so the Atlantic price would ordinarily be quite good. And next week it will be good again if it is still priced that way. This special deal from JR beats it though.

C.A.O. Cameroon Coronas — these are the L’Anniversaire Cameroons — were recently rated at 85 in Cigar Afficianado’s June, 2005 issue. They called it “a good looking cigar with a perfect burn and very good draw. It starts off strong with intense woody flavors, but fades and grows bitter.” Smoke Magazine gave it a 4.6 out of 5 points, saying, ” likeable little cigar with more flavor than its looks seem to promise.”

This cigar is best-priced right now at $29.95 per 5 pack sampler at Famous Smoke Shop. No one else I’ve checked has them (which isn’t unusual — Famous is my “go to” site for most samplers because they have a broader selection. The suggested retail on the sampler is $32.50, so they usually are not discounted much.

Doing the math, if you were to buy both samplers at the best current prices, you’d pay $25.00 + $29.95 = $54.95. Plus you’d have to add in shipping from two separate places. The JR Special price under this deal is only $32.50 – a little over 40% off the best current discount prices. Sounds like a very good deal to me.

Plus…you get a free wooden box.

And the box has the trademark of the two cigar brands in this special deal imprinted on the box.

But the box is empty, and the cigars in the deal won’t fit in the box.
