Poll Results: Drew Estates Acid Cigars

Acid Cigars by Drew EstatesResults of the poll on opinions on Drew Estates Acid cigar line are in.

These cigars, of course, are always a subject of controversy in cigar circles. People seem to either hate them or love them, with very few opinions in between whenever they are discussed in online forums.

The poll results show a little more diversity of opinion. Maybe the Cigar Envy audience is a different cross section of the cigar-smoking public, or maybe the anonymity of the poll caused people to be a little more free in saying that they liked them without fear of flaming. Perhaps the sort of people who answer web polls differs significantly from those who post in forums. I’m not sure what the difference is — but the results, and some comments on those results, are below the fold.

The raw yes/no split on the poll was 56% liking Acid cigars, with 44% not liking them. However, there is more to the story than the raw figure shows. Here’s how the votes ended up:

Total responding to the poll: 199

  • I love ‘em!: (59)                              30%
  • Good occasionally: (51)                   26%
  • Tried ‘em, don’t like ‘em: (52)       26%
  • Never tried ‘em, never will!: (37)   18%

Breaking that down a little farther, this means that 55% of the people responding like to smoke Acid cigars at least occasionally. Only 26% of the people who have actually tried them do not like them. 18% of people responding to the poll have a negative opinion of Acid cigars — but have never actually smoked one.

Taking a look at the figures in light of that fact explains why Drew Estates has become a dominant force in the cigar industry. Of people who have actually sampled an Acid cigar, 37% say that they “love them.” Another 31% say that they like to smoke Acid cigars occasionally. That adds up to over two out of every three people who have tried the Acid cigar line having a positive view of them.

The next Cigar Envy poll is up now in the far right column.

This time, you have a chance to voice your opinion on where the cigar you smoke most often is made. Note that this is not your “favorite” cigar — instead, the poll is asking for what you smoke most frequently.

As with all of the polls that will run here, the information you provide is completely anonymous and goes toward helping me decide future articles.
